We believe that one of the best ways towards the conservation of our marine environment for future generations is through the education of present generations.
As part of our education program we have run art competition for the children of Beyin and Eikwe, Western Ghana. The themes of the competitions are centred on environmental issues.
We chose to go with broad themes so that it would hopefully get the children thinking about turtles and maybe how much they have been affected by anthropogenic activities in the planets oceans in the 21st century.
For 2015 we will also be running art competitions at Axim, Busua and Essiama as part of our expanding education program.
Below you will find a range of downloadable PDFs of primary level educational resources that we hope you and your students will find both fun and useful in your home or classroom.
There is also a simple Microsoft powerpoint presentation on shark conservation along with accompanying teacher text that is suitable for ages 10+, it takes about 20-25 minutes to give depending on teacher and student input. The teacher should also familiarize themselves with the contents of the shark finning leaflet (available in the sharks section) prior to giving this presentation. (The password to open the powerpoint presentation if required is wildseas)
We will be adding more resources and games as we produce them so please check back for updates. If you have any suggestions we’d love to hear them.
